Start with a Visit to the Corniche and Explore Al-Balad
Kick off your day with a peaceful stroll along Jeddah’s beautiful Corniche, a coastal road that stretches along the Red Sea. The Corniche offers stunning views of the sea, lovely parks, and art sculptures scattered along the walkway. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a refreshing morning breeze.
By 9:30 AM, you’ll head over to Al-Balad, Jeddah’s historic district, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Wander through its narrow alleyways, marvel at the unique coral-stone houses, and discover traditional markets.
Key spots include the Nassif House, a restored merchant’s house, and the Historical Jeddah Museum. It should take about an hour to explore this charming district.
Visit King Fahd Fountain and Have Lunch at a Local Restaurant
Next, you’ll make your way to the King Fahd Fountain, one of the tallest fountains in the world. Situated along the Corniche, this fountain shoots water up to 260 meters into the air, creating an impressive sight.
By noon, it’s time to indulge in some delicious local cuisine. You’ll head for a casual but delicious lunch. Local spots offer a variety of traditional dishes, from kabsa (a flavorful rice dish) to grilled meats and fresh seafood.
For something quick and local, try a classic shawarma or falafel wrap.
See the Jeddah Waterfront and Visit the Abdul Raouf Khalil Museum
After lunch, go to the Jeddah Waterfront, a recently created area with family-friendly parks, walking paths, and beautiful beaches. Take a leisurely walk along the promenade, enjoy the greenery, or just relax by the sea.
Around 3:30 PM, you’ll spend some time at the Abdul Raouf Khalil Museum. Located a short drive from the Waterfront, this museum offers an in-depth look at Saudi culture, art, and history.
The museum houses a fascinating collection of artifacts, from traditional Saudi attire to Islamic art pieces.
Relax at the Al-Shallal Theme Park
If we have extra time before heading back, we’ll visit Al-Shallal Theme Park, located along the Red Sea.
It’s an entertaining spot to unwind and enjoy a peaceful walk or take in a beautiful sunset before heading back to your cruise ship. Alternatively, if you prefer a quieter spot to reflect, relax by the sea at a café.
Tips for Your Trip
- Dress code: While Jeddah is relatively modern, it’s always a good idea to dress modestly, especially when visiting religious or cultural sites.
- Currency: The local currency is Saudi Riyal (SAR), so it’s best to have some cash for small purchases, though most places accept credit cards.
